Hi, I’m Dan Robrish.
I’m best known as the founder of The Elizabethtown Advocate, a weekly newspaper in central Pennsylvania. I started the paper in 2010 after more than 11 years working in the Philadelphia bureau of The Associated Press. In 2017, I sold the paper to a division of the LNP Media Group and signed a three-year employment contract with them to remain the editor. That contract will be over on March 1, 2020.
What’s next for me? I’m working on medical clearance to join the Peace Corps. I picked the “serve where you are needed most” option, where they look at your resume and decide where you’d fit best. I figured I’d most likely be teaching English, since I’ve spent more than 20 years as a professional writer and editor. To my surprise, they chose me to be a teacher trainer in The Gambia, a country in western Africa. It borders Senegal on the north, south and east and the Atlantic Ocean on the west.
This blog is where I’ll keep people posted about what I’m doing.
